The Bernal Cut has at least 7 distinct sections. Two community gardens - one in W2 and one in E2.  The triangle open space is in E1. The Arlington Street Path runs along the West side and the Bernal Cut Path runs along the East side.
W1 St Marys Ave to Miguel can be defined as a steep section covered with large rocks for erosion control up to a high retaining wall.  Safety anchors have been installed on the path alongside the chain link fencing for DPW use.
W2 Miguel to Highland is steep with many large trees a chain link fence.
W3 Highland to Randall slopes slowly down has many large trees.  A mixture of chain link fence and concrete barricade separates path from hillside.
E1 St Marys Ave to Richland including a large section of College Ave has been a part of the Bernal Cut restoration project.
E2 Richland to Park Street is bisected by the staircase down to San Jose Ave.  This section has a french drain installed in the hillside to prevent erosion and divert the natural seasonal spring. A section of the hillside is protected by chainlink fence.
E3 Park Street to Highland is steep and has been covered with Acacia trees that grow over the path and provide cover for encampments.
E4 Highland to Appleton includes a staircase to San Jose Ave. Safety anchors have been installed on the path for DPW use.
