Injuries in the workplace are common. Whether you work in an office building or a steel mill, accidents can happen. Thankfully, there are state and federal laws in place that allow workers to receive benefits from their employer while they recover from their injuries. Sometimes, however, employers and their insurance companies refuse to play by the rules. When that happens, the experienced attorneys at Eng & Woods will help you fight to get the benefits you deserve.
The law office of Eng & Woods, Attorneys at Law represents people throughout Missouri in workers’ compensation cases. Workers’ compensation claims cover all types of injuries, including but not limited to:
Our team of trial attorneys has extensive experience trying workers’ compensation cases and has accumulated a tremendous record of successful settlements and awards. Let us put our experience and skill to work for you.
Almost all employers in Missouri are required by law to carry insurance for workers’ compensation claims. These insurance policies are intended to cover all necessary and reasonable medical expenses for the duration of your injury. In addition, if an employee misses more than three days of work, they are entitled to receive temporary total disability benefits. Workers on temporary total disability are provided a weekly check for the duration of their recovery until the employee is able to return to work. This check is normally two-thirds of the employee’s average weekly wage, subject to certain caps. Once the employee has completed their medical care – depending on the nature and extent of any permanent disability as a result of the injury – they will be entitled to either a permanent partial disability settlement or permanent total disability settlement.
Although your employer is required to have these policies, the insurance companies that provide them are not required to accept your claim. Many people who have suffered legitimate injuries have had their claims denied. Even if your claim is accepted, there is no guarantee that insurance companies will provide you with the necessary compensation to which you are entitled.
If your employer’s insurance company denies your claim or refuses to provide you with medical care or a suitable settlement, the attorneys at Eng & Woods in Columbia, MO are not afraid to take them to trial to get the care, coverage and compensation you deserve.
